Dungaw is a diptych that reflects the memories and shared experiences of collaborators Rey Labarento and Dan Duran. The work traces a literal and symbolic journey: it begins with recycled fabric assembled in Siaton, then moves to Valencia where it is primed, stretched, and layered with Rey’s thread figures. It continues with an impressionist base painting of the Siaton landscape, as seen from Dan’s room, and culminates in a collaborative painting session at the Jumalon Mudhouse—where memories of people, places, and objects are collaged into the final piece.

Dungaw serves as a pair of windows into our respective homes. It is a reminder that, regardless of where our paths lead, we often return—through memory and reflection—to where we began.
