VALENCIA, Negros Oriental — It’s one for the books! Last April 6, 2024, Mugna Gallery opened “Smooth Seas Don’t Make Good Sailors” by Argao-based visual artist Wyndelle Remonde, and “PANATA” a group exhibition featuring Visayan artists from Cebu and Negros, inlcuding: Bastinuod, Binsoy, Eman Alconera, GI Pongase, Jaylord Naces, Jyaryd, Kanu, Mylord, Lean Reboja, Lourd, Moshi Dokyo, Mr. & Mrs. Yookey, Mykill, Nueve, and Regie Alquizalas.
While Remonde presents a series of paintings that are quite autobiographical, yet transcend into a universal truth, PANATA delves into the Visayan notion of devotion as translated into various mediums and techniques by the fifteen artists.
These exhibitions mark the first time that Mugna Gallery has featured artists who are not from or based in Dumaguete, as part of its long-term plan to feature the Visayas region in its artistic programming.
