Mugna Gallery and the Province of Negros Oriental Buglasan Festival 2023 proudly present a unique collaboration that celebrates the creativity — the Mugna Spirit — of Dumaguete artists through the group exhibition Kamugnaan, with an opening reception to be held on October 14, 2023, Saturday at the gallery in Valencia, Negros Oriental.
Drawing on how Dumaguete and Negros Oriental shaped their artistic journey, thirty-seven artists from diverse backgrounds, age, and mediums come together to paint a picture of the city and the province that defines not only them but people from all walks of life.
Side by side with Kamugnaan, the gallery will also hold the artist’s reception of The Well’s Ladder Method — an experimental exhibition spearheaded by homegrown visual artists Deadlocks and Totem Yap Saa. Since September, the two gathered artists from Dumaguete for a unique artmaking session held every weekend where each participant explored their artistry vis-a-vis each others’ — culminating in artworks that balanced their energies in a harmonious collaboration that in itself is a portrait of the art community in Dumaguete.
This is a truly momentous occasion in the art history of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental, and it is with much anticipation and excitement that the gallery invites everyone to experience these with their own eyes. Both exhibitions will be open to the public for viewing starting Saturday, October 14th, kicking off with an Opening Reception at 6 PM.
