Last 28 February 2026, eager participants trooped up to Mugna Gallery for the “Sige ug Sulat” art writing workshop conducted by exhibiting artist Koki Lxx.
Asked to write a one-page essay on either of the current exhibits, “Threadmarks” by Rey Labarento or “karon, ugma, pagka ugma” by Koki Lxx, submissions were a spectrum of style, approach and technique, with some opting for straightforward reviews, and some did more personal reactions to the exhibitions. Lxx discussed a key point from each text to the group as they went around the exhibitions for a casual walkthrough as well.
The workshop ended with a healthy and active Q&A session, testament to the active and eager minds of Dumaguete’s future art writers and artists.
