Following an exhibition that focused on the origins of its artists, Frame × Frame and Paglungtad highlights seven emerging Visayan artists from various cities and towns of Visayas and Northern Mindanao. The artists, all friends and colleagues coming from the same art program, had their first public art exhibition at Mugna Gallery.
Frame × Frame, housed in the first floor of Mugna Gallery, featured the artworks of Francis Capul, MP Villahermosa, Sjay Ramos, and Simon Lim. Each artist whose paintings, drawings, and prints dwelled in the obscure through the fragmentation of form, consciousness, and memory.
Paglungtad, found in the basement floor of Mugna Gallery, featured the artworks of Czar Vergantiños, Gertrelle Sumicad, and Kaith Pelicano. Each artwork covered subjects of gender and patriarchy, identity and surveillance, and the repetition of the everyday. The photographs and videos all drawing focus on the context that exists within art practice.
A reunion for these artists as they shared memories, stories, and dreams and hopes for their own art. The night was joined by the guests of Mugna Gallery, friends, family, and even the professors who helped guide the development of the practice of these seven artists.
Frame × Frame and Paglungtad will run until 6 September 2026.
