Last 17 March 2026, Mugna Gallery visited Art Cube Gallery in Makati, NCR, to view the latest solo exhibition of Valencia visual artist Rey Labarento entitled “Pastilan.”
Labarento painted daily scenes of town life, but highlighted the duality in every simple gesture through the very Visayan expression “pastilan” – loosely meaning “oh!” — which can then be something positive or negative.
Our creative director Vincent Lopez noted Labarento’s growth and the remarkable relatability of his style and subjects.
